About Us
St. Martin’s was established in the year 2000.
The congregation was formed because the members treasure the Scriptures and rightly regard them as the infallible Word of God. It is important that the joy we have through the Scriptures is preserved for future generations.
In proclaiming the Word of God the proper distinction between Law and Gospel must be maintained. A mixing of the two will reduce the purpose of each.
Two good books on this subject are “The proper distinction between Law and Gospel” by DR. C.F.W. Walther and “Law and Gospel or the way of life” by G.C. Koch.
We need the Law to show us our sin and how to live as Christians because it is God’s will for us. We need the Gospel to show us our wonderful Savour, Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and fulfilled the Law in our stead. Christ’s resurrection shows that His sacrifice was complete and accepted by God the Father. This means we cannot contribute anything to our Salvation. Christ’s atonement was perfect and nothing can be added to it.
